Protestors and police clash in France

Three and a half million French people, according to labor unions, and one million three hundred thousand, according to police figures, took part in strikes and demonstrations in more than 200 cities on the sixth day of protests against the pension reform, which includes raising the retirement age from 62 to 64.

Macron and his cabinet says the changes are essential to prevent the pensions system from falling into deficit in coming years.

But they face fierce resistance from both parliament and the street, with almost two in three people across the country supporting protests against it.
