EU Happiness Report
New figures from the EU’s statistics agency rank Austria as the happiest country in the 27-member bloc.
Austria scored an overall 7.9 out of 10 in Eurostat’s annual publication of its “quality of life indicators”
Poland, Finland and Romania ranked joint-second in the data with all scoring 7.7 out of 10.
At the other end of the scale, miserable Germans are officially the second to bottom on the ranking. In 2021, they came in with a score of 7.1. The newest data shows that it has fallen to just 6.5.
Bulgarians are the unhappiest nation in the European Union. Bulgaria is the only country whose citizens scored less than 6 (5.6) on their overall satisfaction with life.
