Sinead O’Connor has passed away at the age of 56.
The highly acclaimed Irish singer was world famous in particular for her songs Nothing Compares 2 U, No Man’s Woman, and Mandinka.
O’Connor had a colorful and controversial career where in one notorious incident she tore up a photograph of Pope John Paul II during a performance.
She was predeceased by her teenage son Shane who took his own life at 17.
The singer was ordained as a priest by a fringe group not in communion with the Catholic Church in 1999.
In 2018 O’Connor converted to Islam saying how she “felt at home” after reading the Koran. She said she felt she had ‘been a Muslim all her life’
