Violent end to 2023 in London sees 4 murders and 4 others stabbed over Christmas Eve and New Year
Harry Pitman became the 17th teenager to be killed on London's streets in 2023 when he was stabbed to death on Primrose Hill half an hour before the end of the year.
Four murders between Christmas Eve and the New Year have marked a violent end to 2023 in London. The tragic death of Harry Pitman, 16, who was fatally stabbed in front of thousands of revellers on Primrose Hill just half an hour before midnight, brought the total number of suspected murders in 2023 to 104, and made the 16-year-old the 17th teenager to be killed on the capital's streets last year.
With only 30 minutes to go before the turn of the year, youngster Harry Pitman was stabbed in front of thousands who had gathered in the North London park to watch the fireworks being launched three miles away in front of the London Eye. On New Year's Day, police said a 16-year-old boy had been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.
On Christmas Eve, 22-year-old Kacey Clarke was found stabbed in her Bermondsey flat on Jamaica Road. She died at the scene after police were called around 10am. A 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged with her murder.

Two teenagers were arrested in connection with Harry Pitman's murder by Met Police yesterday evening (Tuesday, January 2). A 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of the murder of Harry Pitman, 16, and an 18-year-old on suspicion of affray. They are both being held in custody at Central London police stations.
Police have also quashed rumours that this attack was racially motivated either. Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Grogan, who leads the murder investigation, said: “We are aware of speculation, especially on social media, that the attack may have been racially motivated and I can confirm that there is no indication of a racial motive.
