Most Poles would like to see an increase in the powers of EU member states at the expense of a more federalised bloc.

In an SW Research survey published by the Rzeczpospolita newspaper on Saturday, 38.1 per cent of respondents said the Polish government should advocate for more competence of EU member states within the EU.

A smaller group, 26 per cent, believe that the government should try to increase the competence of the EU authorities.

Another sizeable group, 26.4 per cent, have no opinion on what policy the government should pursue further development of the European Union.

The euro’s recent drop in value against the dollar comes at a "very unfortunate time," says ING economist Bert Colijn. Nuclear-biological defense specialists at the plane crash site in Greece

A special team of nuclear-biological defense specialists arrived at the crash site in northern Greece, where a plane carrying a dangerous cargo crashed last night.

Young foreigners commit nearly half of the serious crimes in Italy in the 14-24 age group, according to data from the Italian government’s National Institute for Statistics (ISTAT).

In the 18-24 age group, foreigners make up 11.2 percent of the country’s population, yet commit a whopping 89.7 percent of crimes involving exploitation of prostitution, 55.8 percent of cases involving sexual violence, 52.8 percent of robberies, 52.4 percent of thefts, and 43.6 percent of malicious injury cases.

Molenbeek (pronounced MOLE-en-bake)

Molenbeek, Belgium, you may recall, was the Brussels neighborhood that was home to almost half of the jihadists responsible for the 2015 Paris attacks and several subsequent terror attacks in Belgium. The bomber of a train at Brussels Central Station in 2017, for instance, lived in Molenbeek. Mehdi Nemmouche, who shot and killed four people at Brussels’ Jewish Museum in 2014, had previously lived in Molenbeek. The mastermind of the Paris killings, Abdelhamid Abboud, grew up and still lived in Molenbeek.

Most of Molenbeek’s population is Moroccan, though immigrants from elsewhere in North Africa and from Eastern Europe have also settled there.
